Before I read this topic, I had no real idea of how powerful gate guns were. After I read this topic, I am having a blast!
My Rupture's setup is slightly different to the above, my lows are slightly different- got a 2nd hardner on and not a DC. When I die, I'll try something different. Until then, I am marvelling at how many ppl don't have instas- I thought everyone did!
Finding an uncamped choke point between regions is quite hard though, never realised there was so much camping going on!

Indeed, biggest thing I killed so far with the same-ish ship setup was a destroyer. Also killed an Itty 4. There's no way I could take a cruiser before I got destroyed, the gate guns are knocking the stuffing out of you.
As someone above said, only 2 guns max fire at you, in whatever 0.1 to 0.4 system you're in.
And they do jump in to approx the same area- as long as the have to go past you to get to the gate, it's job done.

I agree with Genepool, there is hardly any risk involved in losing a T1 cruiser, even with T2 fittings.
I have already made more back by killing a couple of indys then I would losing 2 cruisers and fittings. I am just suprised at how many people don't have instas- I thought everyone did.
My hat off to Genepool for sharing this, it's made my Eve Pirating much more fun then belt hunting. With belt hunting, it's hard to find targets. Here, they literally come to you, but you have the added excitement of trying to gank them before you get done in by the gate guns.
I killed a mammoth yesterday which had two T2 small shield extenders fitted. I initiated warp as I thought I wasn't going to finish him off, but I did just before I entered warp . Both the extenders survived

Ah, this reminds me.
If you do the same thing at a station, do you get more than 2 sentries firing at you? If not, how come you don't see station ganking so much (not people emerging from, but people warping to, then slowboating)?
Or does it happen, and I've just missed it?

1600mm RT plate = Rolled Tungsten
1 x SARII = Small Armour Repairer II
1 x EANM = Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
1 x RCU = Reactor Control Unit
1 x DCU = Damage Control Unit
